Gearing Up for Tourist Season at SHP

Spring is always an exciting time at the museums. Warmer weather brings so many exciting changes to our historic sites as we prepare to welcome tourists and locals back to Fairlawn Mansion, the SS Meteor, and the Old Firehouse & Police Museum. This spring has been filled with restoration, new exhibits, artifact additions, and more. At Fairlawn, we are nearing the completion of Lois Pattison’s Bedroom Restoration, and we can’t wait to reveal the restored space to you! At the Old Firehouse & Police Museum, a fresh new layout of the second floor “Big Room” includes a video viewing area, larger Kids Zone play area, and a brand new exhibit on the evolution of the fire extinguisher are some of the new additions to that site. Aboard the SS Meteor, we are working hard to unveil the ship’s famous bar area, complete with brews to serve! We couldn’t do any of this work without help from Tour Guides, City of Superior Construction Staff, and an incredible group of volunteers that help us make our big ideas become a reality.

And perhaps most rewarding of all, we get to reveal all of the upgrades to you! We cannot wait to reopen the SS Meteor and the Old Firehouse & Police Museum and expand our hours at Fairlawn Mansion to see more of you each day. The SS Meteor and Old Firehouse & Police Museum’s Grand Reopening will take place on Saturday, May 16th. All participants on opening day will receive a free gift, free cake, and chances to win prize drawings throughout the day! Summer is almost here, and we cannot wait to spring into action at Superior Historic Properties!
